FIELD TRAINING PROGRAM
After completing a P.O.S.T. Law Enforcement Academy, a new recruit or a previously certified new hire must complete the Field Training Program designed for Scott Police Department based on the original program implemented in San Jose, California.
Upon completion, the trainee will possess the knowledge and skills needed to adequately perform the duties of a Police Officer.
The program is taken in 4 phases where the Trainee is placed with a new Training Officer (FTO) with various degrees of knowledge and experience during each phase. The Trainees are evaluated by the FTO each day, at the end of each phase, and a final evaluation with the Chief of Police at the end of approximately 4 months of on the job training.
